Welcome to Burford Primary and Nursery School!

We are a busy and friendly single-form entry school in Arnold, Nottingham, with lots going on! This website aims to give you a taste of our school, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.

We are part of the Transform Multi-Academy Trust and enjoy contributing to this growing community. We compete, collaborate and celebrate our learning with other Transform schools across Nottingham, Derby and Mansfield.

Due to our values-driven, character education, the children in #TeamBurford are kind, considerate and polite. They are  engaged, and motivated by our brilliant curriculum, and are ambitious about the work they produce and about where they want to go in future!

Our children are encouraged to see themselves as change-makers and leaders, both now and when they are older. Our Student Councillors, Pupil Librarians, and Sports Leaders are keen to talk to you about the difference that they make in school. But all Burford children - due to our purposeful, provocative and empowering curriculum - can share examples of when they have made a positive impact upon our local community, and upon global issues. 

We support our children to develop positive habits now that will help them in later life. We prioritise this during theme weeks, such as 'Keeping Healthy & Staying Safe Week'. They are taught how to look after their physical and mental health, and understand the importance of looking after others.  

Our teaching team go above and beyond to ensure our curriculum is as exciting as possible - welcoming visitors, organising trips, exploiting digital opportunities, and by making learning 'hands on' and experiential. Our teaching team are expert at making learning as inclusive and supportive as possible, so that everyone feels that they belong in a safe space in which they can try, make mistakes and learn from them. As a result of this, the children of #TeamBurford are Attendance Heroes who want to be Here - Everyday - Ready to learn - On time (H.E.R.O.). They understand the importance of reliability, punctuality and consistency. 

Our school day is 9am to 3.30pm, and we teach to a 32.5hr week. However, teachers often open the doors earlier (8.50am) to allow children a calm start to the day rather than all rushing to enter at once. Our adult team are always happy to chat at this time! We also have a Breakfast Club that opens at 8am and an After School Club that runs until 5.30pm, which we know that busy families can find helpful!

In addition to our core curriculum offer, our teaching team lead a range of After School Clubs (such as sports clubs, environment clubs, and arts clubs) which are advertised half-termly via Class Dojo, which is our main means of communicating logistical information with families (please do sign up!).
