At Burford, our children are encouraged to think and work like designers. Children use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

Pupils learn how to take risks and become resourceful, innovative and enterprising citizens. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.

Our children develop their team work skills, grow a deep understanding of environmental and sustainability issues, become effective at managing their own projects, and intuitively reflect and evaluate so that they produce the most successful solutions most efficiently.

Children are encouraged to critique and evaluate their work and others’. They work collaboratively and appreciate their individual role or responsibility within a team. We intentionally create a safe environment for children to explore and ask questions when using a range of materials and tools.
