  • Update on Covid-19 - what to do if a school 'bubble' has to self-isolate

    Thu 24 Sep 2020

    Afternoon everyone,

I want to make you aware of an eventuality that I hope does not come to pass but fear may. If a child, or staff member, tests positive in a year group bubble it is likely that bubble will close for 14 days. If that were to happen, the children in that year would have to stay at home even if they did not have symptoms. However, their siblings would still be able to come to school.

I mention this so parents with children in multiple year groups can start to make plans for how to get younger siblings to school in the event of a year group closure.

Let me use an example to illustrate. If year 1 closed, and your child was not the one who tested positive, they would still have to self isolate. If you had a child in nursery, they could still come to school. You would not, however, be able to bring your Year 1 child with you when you dropped off and picked up. I hope now you can see where some difficulties could arise.

It would be worth talking to friends and families now to see if you could help each other out.

    Hi everyone,

Like you all, I am keen to keep everyone as safe as possible. I know you all want to help but it is sometimes easy to fall into bad habits (I'm as guilty as the next person). As parents, the biggest thing you can do to help is make sure you respect social distancing guidelines when you drop off and pick up. I hope that if we all do that we will be able to get back to normal as quickly as possible.

    Thanks for your continuing help.

  • What to do if a member of your household has symptoms of Coronavirus

    Wed 09 Sep 2020

    Morning everyone,

I received updated guidance earlier today, as follows:

'Anyone who is symptomatic, and their household members, must stay at home until they can get a test/have the result – only leaving home for the test.'

So, if anyone in your household has any of the three Covid symptoms (dry, persistent cough; temperature over  37.8 degrees or loss of taste or smell) you must stay at home (please give us a ring so we know) until your test results are known (please tell us whether they are positive or negative). To access a test, either ring 119 or google 'Online coronavirus test booking service.'

Should you be unsure, please contact school and we will help with any questions you have.

  • Attendance

    Tue 08 Sep 2020

    Hi everyone,

As I am sure you can imagine, attendance at school will be quite an issue over the coming months. We already have some children off as a precaution because they are exhibiting one, or more, of the following Covid symptoms:

    Dry, persistent cough.
    Raised temperature
Loss of the sense of taste or smell.

Should your child display any of these symptoms, please ring 119 to arrange a test for your child. They will not be able to come into school until you get the results back. If they are negative, they can simply come back to school. If they are positive, please tell school straight away as we will need to contact Public Health England for instruction on what to do next.

If you are unsure on what to do, please contact school and we will advise you as best we can.
I have attached on a general information leaflet on attendance for your perusal.

    Best wishes,
    Mr Farrington
