  • Inset days - 26th and 27th July 2021

Tue 20 Apr 2021 Shaun Farrington

    Morning everyone,

I hope you and your children had a lovely break over the Easter holidays.

The school have two further Inset training days to use this academic year. I am conscious that the children's learning has been interrupted greatly over the past year so want to schedule these days to minimize any further disruptions. To achieve that, I have decided to schedule these inset days on the last two days of this term (Monday 26th July and Tuesday 27th July). This means the last school day for children will be Friday 23rd July.

I hope that makes sense but please come back to me if you have any questions.

    Best wishes,

    Mr Farrington

  • Returning to School - Letter from the CEO

    Fri 05 Mar 2021 S Harding

    Dear Parents and Carers,

I am sure you are all as thrilled as I am that Transform schools will be open to all children from Monday 8th March.  I want to welcome every single child back.  Schools are just not the same without the excited sound of children, and I know I speak for every Transform staff member when I say we cannot wait to have everyone back.  The news is truly welcome and the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be shining a little more brightly. Of course, we have never been totally closed, but I hope we are taking one more step towards the normality we all crave.

I know you appreciate that things will not revert to what we knew as “normal” prior to COVID but we are excited that we will all be back together sooner rather than later.  As such, I now ask for your help in making this a smooth return for all our children.

    • Attendance for children at school will be mandatory from March 8th unless required to isolate.
    • Please continue to respect social distancing, outside school as well as within the school grounds. You set the example even before the children arrive in school.
    • Anyone returning from abroad must strictly follow the quarantining guidance.
    • Please help the school by isolating your children if they, or anyone in your household has symptoms. This remains the key tool in protecting everyone and allowing school to remain open.
    • A school will not hesitate to isolate class bubbles if there is a positive case in school.

Please be assured that school staff continue to test themselves twice per week and have made truly extraordinary efforts throughout the last year to ensure we keep schools safe.  I am sure you will agree that the systems we had in place prior to the January Lockdown were effective and well established.  I could not be prouder of our Transform family.  I hope you will join me in fully appreciating what they have done. Maybe you could take the opportunity to thank them directly (at a distance) or to let me know so I can pass on your thanks.  This will mean a great deal to them.

Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of you.  Whether your children have been at home or at school for being so flexible, understanding and appreciative.  Stay safe and well.  Remember #togetherweachieve.

    Best Wishes

  • Arrangements for returning to school on the 8th March

Tue 02 Mar 2021 Shaun Farrington

    Hi everyone,

I hope you, and your children, are looking forward to returning to school on the 8th March. As promised, I have detailed the arrangements below for you. As you will see, very little has changed since before lockdown:

    Arrival and Dismissal Times

     Class                       Arrival           Dismissal       Gate

    Nursery (F1)         8:45              14:45            Gate C

    Reception (F2)     8:45              14:45            Gate B

    Year 1                      9:00              15:00            Gate B

    Year 2                      9:15              15:15            Gate B

    Year 3                      9:15              15:15            Gate C

    Year 4                      8:45              14:45            Gate A

    Year 5                      9:00              15:00            Gate A

    Year 6                      9:15              15:15            Gate A

Gate A: Lower entrance, Oxclose Lane

Gate B: Main entrance, Oxclose Lane

    Gate C: Field entrance

Please drop off 5 minutes before the stated start time and at the specified gate in order to respect social distancing.

Pre-agreed arrangements for siblings from pre lockdown remain in place.

    Breakfast and After School Club

The school will be following government guidelines that state that ‘wrap around’ care should only be provided on a limited basis. The reason for that is the risk these clubs pose because of children mixing from different classes. That means we will only be able to offer places to Breakfast and After school clubs to the children of key workers for the time being. We will regularly review this arrangement and relax it as soon as it is safe to do so.

    New entrants to  F1 (nursery)

These children will join us from the 15th March. Details will be shared directly with parents in due course.

    Questions

If you have any questions about re-opening could you either contact your class teacher, via Class Dojo, or ring the school office on 0115 9151560.

    Best wishes,

    Mr Farrington

  • Help with reading at home

Mon 01 Mar 2021 Shaun Farrington
    Afternoon everyone,

I heard a really interesting news program driving into school today. There has been a lot of research that shows if children watch TV with subtitles on, their reading ability improves. I'm open to trying anything that helps reading so please give it a go.

Preparations are well under way for full school re-opening on the 8th March. I will post details either later today or tomorrow.

    Best wishes,

    Mr Farrington
  • School re-opening on 8th March 2021

Tue 23 Feb 2021 Shaun Farrington

    Morning everyone,

I am sure you are all aware that schools will be open again from the 8th March. I know my staff and I are looking forward to welcoming the children back.

My SLT and I are meeting this morning to discuss plans for re-opening and I will share them with you as soon as they are complete. I expect very little change from the arrangements we had in place before we locked down.

I know home schooling has been difficult for many of you. Please continue to make every effort to encourage your children to fully participate over the next two weeks. Like you, I want our Burford children to return to school with as much learning in place as possible.

    Best wishes,

    Mr Farrington
