Summer Learning Booklets

FANTASTIC SUMMER LEARNING BOOKLETS!

Hello everyone,

We have something exciting to announce!

The Transform Trust team have put together some BRILLIANT summer learning booklets to keep our children busy during the summer holidays and to help them to prepare for September.

The booklets are based on ‘short-burst’ tasks for wellbeing, reading, writing, maths and physical activities.

Animal Themes

Reading and writing tasks are based around an theme. We have chosen an animal focus to enable the development of background knowledge and vocabulary which will then support the children with the linked writing tasks. Here are the themes for each year group:

  • Year 1 – Foxes (including the poem The Vulture)
  • Year 2 – Worms (including the story of Anansi and the Turtle)
  • Year 3 – Birds
  • Year 4 – Woodland Animals
  • Year 5 – Wolves

The animal theme will also help to promote discussion amongst families with siblings in different year groups. Each booklet has a focus on non-fiction, fiction and poetry and there will be linked QR codes so children can hear audio recordings of the texts read by members of the Transform Trust team.

The booklets have been based around the expectations for your child’s current year group with a view to them moving to the year group above.

Twitter

Transform will be launching a Twitter campaign to promote the Summer Learning Booklets and will be encouraging parents & carers to share their child’s learning via @TransformTrust using #TransformSummer.

HOW TO GET ONE!

We will hand these booklets out to children who are in school.
